Poo-What? A Quick History
Students enrolled in ESM's Theatre III class write, produce, direct and perform in shows. For 30 years and counting, any Drama student under the tutelage of Mr. Joseph Minutillo (the prior Theatre Director at South Manor and current Theatre Director at Eastport South Manor High School) understands the word "Poo-Wa-Bah" to be synonymous with "ensemble." Each night, before the curtains have been opened on any major production past or present, Mr. "Min" has lead the entire cast and crew in a resounding round of "Poo-Wa-Bahs." Exclaimed in unison, this exercise is a way of fusing the group together and making them recognize that every participating student is necessary to make the production a success. As Drama Club alumni, we're honoring that lesson learned and putting it into practice, coming together once again to work toward our objectives.
The PART Today
Today, the PART is comprised of Drama Department alumni that have graduated from South Manor or ESM, as well as district teachers associated with the Drama Department. In addition, parents of students in the department graciously volunteer to help at production time. They provide cast and crew dinners during rehearsal, raise funds via silent auctions, concession sales and more.
